Full of nature

Speaking of Muroran … factories? There’s not just those! There are mountains and rivers near the institute. There is also a beach if you go a little further! Students often hang out with friends.
Around May every year, the cherry blossoms on the campus are in full bloom and you can feel the change of seasons.
The area around the institute has gentle slopes and is ideal for walking in the morning. The chirping of birds, the murmuring of the rivers, and the scent of flowers will heal your daily fatigue. Compared with other areas in Hokkaido, Muroran has relatively cool summers and winters with light snowfall.

Beautiful night view

The night view of Muroran is one of Japan’s Five Beautiful Night Views of Factories.

The light show produced by the factories that have long supported Muroran, a manufacturing town, is truly fascinating!
You can enjoy the night view of Muroran by visiting the many observatories and finding your favorite spot. The factories show diverse expressions when viewed from different angles. They perfectly match the Hakucho Bridge.

Enjoy gourmet food

There’s miso ramen in Sapporo, soy sauce ramen in Asahikawa, and salt ramen in Hakodate, but don’t forget curry ramen in Muroran.
Hot curry ramen has an unbelievably delicious and addictive taste.

Then there is Muroran Yakitori (usually translated as “grilled skewered chicken”). In the past, it has twice been ranked best in Japan in the Yakitori Olympic. In fact, the meat, which is served with mustard, is pork. Muroran, which has one of the largest numbers of yakitori restaurants per 10,000 people, is a kingdom of yakitori. Beloved Muroran Yakitori is a must-eat dish.
