University of Malawi FIT-Hub and Muroran Institute of Technology The Center for Creative Collaboration Sign MOU
On June 25, 2026, Muroran Institute of Technology The Center for Creative Collaboration (CCC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of Malawi Food Innovation and Technology Hub (FIT-Hub) to promote academic exchange and research cooperation in the fields of food science and food engineering.
The signing ceremony was held at the University of Malawi in Zomba City, Republic of Malawi, attended by The Center for Creative Collaboration President Kiyotaka Tokuraku Professor and Graduate School of Engineering Shinya Yamanaka Professor. Tokuraku Professor signed the agreement together with Professor Samson Sajidu, Vice-Chancellor at the University of Malawi.
The exchange between our university and FIT-Hub began in March 2025, before the establishment of FIT-Hub, when we began collaborating with Deputy Director Placid Mpeketula Associate Professor and Lecturer Dickson Mazibuko. Until now, both institutions have been conducting research and surveys on the functionality of native edible plants.
This MOU aims to promote collaborative research, human resource development, researcher-student exchange, and technological exchange, as well as to further strengthen research cooperation in the fields of food science and food engineering.
Going forward, we will promote research on building sustainable and climate-resilient food systems that utilize native edible plants, and aim to develop international collaborative research that leverages the expertise of both sides.
Muroran Institute of Technology The Center for Creative Collaboration is engaged in activities aimed at creating value and solving social issues by utilizing local resources. Taking this signing of the MOU as an opportunity, we will further develop our collaboration with the University of Malawi and strengthen our international research network through expanded research and personnel exchanges.
